Common Problems
- I can hear people talking but I can't talk
- Voice chat stopped working
- I receive a voice chat error
Voice chat allows you to speak to other players in Overwatch with a connected microphone.
When you join a game, you are automatically placed in the Team Voice Chat channel, or Group Voice Chat if you're grouped up with other players. You can switch between these channels by opening the Social Menu Channels screen (P by default) and selecting the headphone icon next to the desired channel. You can also quickly switch to Team Voice Chat if you're grouped with other players by clicking the blue Join Team Chat button on the hero select screen.
DISABLING PUSH TO TALK
Voice chat is enabled and set to push to talk by default. You can change the push to talk key for PC in the Controls menu.
DISABLING VOICE CHAT
You can disable voice chat by selecting Sound in the Options menu and changing the options for Group Voice Chat or Team Voice Chat to Off.
MUTING OPTIONS
You can mute other players by opening the Social Menu Channels screen. Click the speaker icon next to the player you want to mute/unmute. You can also mute yourself by selecting the microphone icon next to your name.
Note: Voice chat is subject to the same rules as outlined in our Code of Conduct. You will be unable to use the voice chat if your account is silenced.
If your account is not silenced, check the following:
- If you have Parental Controls, make sure voice is enabled.
- Check your Battle.net account Privacy Settings, make sure voice chat is enabled there.
- Clear Battle.net app cache to clear temporary files and data.

- Reset the game settings to default.
- Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues.
- Check your network configuration to find any issues with your firewall, router, or port settings.
- Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.
Note: Voice Chat does not work correctly with Bluetooth devices.
