Repairing Windows System Files

Missing or corrupted system files may cause issues with Blizzard games. Run the System File Checker to scan for damaged or missing files in Windows. If you receive an error message while performing these steps, contact Microsoft for more help.
Note: This command may require access to the Windows installation source files.
Windows® 10/11
- Click Start.
- Type cmd.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and allow the DISM to update.
- In the Command box, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to check the integrity of your files.
Windows® 8.1
- Press Windows + Q
- Select All Programs.
- Under Accessories, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and allow the DISM to update.
- In the Command box, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to check the integrity of your files.
Windows® 7
- Click Start.
- Type cmd.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- In the Command box, type sfc /scannow.
- Follow the prompts to check the integrity of your files.
