Sometimes third-party archiving applications can extract files with invalid permissions. Using Apple's Archive Utility will extract the files with the proper permissions.

  1. Using Finder, locate the ZIP archive file(s).
  2. Right-click the .zip file and select Open With > Archive Utility.
  3. The files will extract to the same directory as the ZIP archive(s).
  4. Double-click the file(s) to run the application.
