Common Problems

  • Cannot add my phone number, I receive the error "The phone number is invalid"
  • An external error occurred
  • The system keeps giving me the following error when I try to add a phone number: "Please enter a postpaid number"

You may receive this error for several reasons, including:

  • The number you are using is not supported.
  • SMS is not supported in some countries, please see our This Product Is Not Available In Your Country article.
  • The country code for the number you are using doesn't match your Account registered country.
  • The Number is a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phone number which are not supported.

If your number is NOT a VOIP number and you still receive an error, check the following:

  • Make sure you enter the number correctly
  • Make sure the country registered on your Battle.net Account is correct and the phone number you're trying to use matches your country. If you have moved countries, update your registered country and try again.
  • Try an alternative service provider or phone number.
  • Make sure your number was not previously used on a VOIP plan
    • If you are unsure if your number is or was a VOIP number, contact your provider for additional information.

Blizzard Support is unable to assist in adding a number to an Account or bypassing restrictions on unsupported numbers. If you continue to experience an error when setting up your number, this may be temporary, please wait, and try again later or contact your service provider.
