Common Problems

  • I've been banned from competitive.
  • Why did I get a comp ban?

Repeatedly leaving or disconnecting during competitive matches in Overwatch 2 can result in Competitive Play restrictions being placed on the account. If this behavior becomes a pattern, the restrictions will escalate in severity, eventually resulting in being banned from Competitive Play for the remainder of the season. Competitive bans are lifted when the next season begins.

As of Season 4 of Overwatch 2, a new Season no longer fully resets the severity of these suspensions and bans. This change can be found in the following Patch Notes.

If your account is banned from Competitive Play during three separate seasons, your account may be permanently banned from Competitive Play. We do not overturn these account restrictions, regardless of the reason.

If your account was restricted from Competitive Play because of connection problems, we recommend following the steps on our Overwatch 2 Disconnection Problems article, and sticking to non-competitive matches until you've resolved those problems.
